2008 appears to be a great year for female R&B artist; Teyanna Taylor, Keri Hilson, and Solange, Jazmine Sullivan to name a few. Everyone seems to dropping their demos. But it's a few names still floating in the abyss of the music industry and I am more than ready for them to get the spotlight they deserve. Here are two of of my picks:
Teedra Moses
This chick is so slept on it's ridiculous! Her cd Complex Simplicity is a classic. The song above, "Backstroke" is one of my favorites from her. She belts out the notes with the ease of a songbird but they still hit hard. The beat makes you just nod your head and just straight up groove. She got dropped from her label, so someone needs to scoop her if they haven't already.
Deemi
She is straight hood and I ain't mad at her. Singing with raw motions about real shit, Deemi is a new breed. Upon first glance she seems so pretty and reminiscent of Alicia Keys, but all that changed when she starts singing/spitting. The labels have NO idea what to do with her which is why she's being shelved. They need to stop trying to put artist in a box and let people be themselves. A lot of women can relate to her story. You can find a bunch of her material on youtube.
